The American Idol addict is back with her reviews on tonight’s Top 6 performances...
As you may all be aware, I am actually typing this while watching the show – so I’ll save my top/bottom 3 predictions to the last :).
So as you all know from my post last week,
Today is Andrew Lloyd Webber week!
And WOW did they really expand the band until the stage! HAHA, and the thing that Ryan did with the conductor stick was funny when he stopped the orchestra from playing... But now back to the show...
First up today we have Syesha Mercado performing “One Rock ‘n’ Roll Too Many” from Starlight Express by Andrew Lloyd Webber – It’s a nice song choice for her, so I wonder how she’s going to do. Well – aside from messing up the first part, she did pretty awesome. HAHA Rickey was hilarious! I pretty sure that if no one does a hell load better than she does, she can definitely make it back next week. Randy thought that Syesha could be a Broadway performer and that this was one of her best performances. Paula thought she brought the house down and Simon thought she was “sexy” with the lying-on-the-piano thing.
Ryan: “Rickey, you’re a conductor tonight not one of the Pussycat Dolls…”
After Syesha Mercado, we have Jason Castro performing “Memory” by Andrew Lloyd Webber – Ouch. To be perfectly honest, this is gonna be a toughie for Jason – but who knows? Let’s wait and see until he does the performance (yes, right now is commercial break).
Ryan: “Let’s see if he can overcome this *uhhh* of his…”
This is one of my favourite songs and I hope he does well – Andrew thinks he can definitely pull it off. Oh my gosh, I seriously love the way how Jason Castro shows emotion and passion when singing his songs. I thought that Jason Castro did a pretty good job! I don’t fricking understand why the judges hated it! Randy; a train wreck? FUDGESTICKS! It was lovely, moving and very sentimental! Simon… How could you say it wasn’t his style of music? IT WAS and it was so good – though I must admit that I could see him struggling a bit while he sang the song, but what the heck.
After Jason Castro, Brooke White performs “You Must Love Me” from the film adaptation of Evita by Andrew Lloyd Webber. Honestly – I would most probably like to see Brooke do “Don’t Cry for me Argentina,” but then I don’t think she would’ve pulled it off seeing as to me, she has got that bigger voice within her. I think that her consistent voice may eliminate her from the competition if she doesn’t start taking risks. But anyway, back to her performance. When they showed the clip of her meeting with Andrew Lloyd Webber showed that she didn’t really know the background of the song which could mean that her performance tonight may lack emotion. OH MY GOSH! How unprofessional of her to start again! Well – this brought back memories of when she performed on the piano by herself. Well that was alright seeing as she could start on the piano and not have to disrupt the band. Actually – all in all, she sung the song quite well! She actually showed emotion while singing the song and brought out the bigger voice that I’ve never seen before. I agreed with Randy that some points of the song wasn’t that good. Paula was kind off speechless saying that she should never “start and stop.” Simon thought the beginning was dramatic and thought that with that kind of start it made her voice shaky. I definitely think that it’s going to be her pick at elimination; I could feel the tension within her and the audience – it was all really quiet and surprisingly no one boo-ed!
Next up after Brooke White we have DAVID ARCHULETA♥ performing “Think of Me” from the Phantom of the Opera by Andrew Lloyd Webber – PHANTOM OF THE OPERA one of my favourite musicals! Let’s keep our fingers crossed and hope he does a smashing job! Oh my gosh – I can’t believe Ryan called up the girls to hug him! I ENVY THEM! I WANT TO BE ONE OF THEM! Okay, back to the show – Andrew knew that the song was made for a diva and for a girl to be sung. He never thought that a boy could do it and told David to open his eyes. OH MY GOSH! HE WAS AWESOME! I LOVED IT! Rickey said that he flubbed and forgot the lyrics towards the end of the song – and I was like, WTF? He just went really low at that point! GOSH people stop bombarding David Archuleta! Anyway both Randy Jackson and Paula Abdul loved him however Simon thought that it was one of his weakest performances and forgettable, but said that it would definitely put him thought the next round. I’m actually really worried now! Will America place him in the bottom 3 tomorrow night? *knocks on wood* HELL NO! I LOVE YOU DAVID ARCHULETA♥ and THUMBS UP on the gang sign :).

Next up was Carly Smithson – her first choice was actually a song from Phantom of the Opera but was however stopped by Andrew for he did not think that it was the right song for her. Instead Carly is now performing “Jesus Christ Superstar” from Jesus Christ Superstar by Andrew Lloyd Webber. What can I say – I hated the performance. Okay, now I feel bad for saying that I hated it only because the song had Jesus’ name in it. I just thought that she shouldn’t have sung it THAT angrily. Randy thought it wasn’t her best performance but thought she did a good job. Simon thought it got a bit shouty but thought it WAS indeed her best performance. To be honest – I thought the shirt that said “Simon Loves Me (this week)” spelt d-e-s-p-e-r-a-t-e much!
After Carly Smithson, David Cook once again closes the show with “Music of the Night” by Andrew Lloyd Webber. Andrew said that this was one of the sexiest songs he had ever written. WOW – David Cook blew me out of my socks tonight I have to admit! He should go Broadway! And I thought he could only rock-it-out but he can do slow songs too! And this performance proved that he’s in it to win it! WOW – it felt like I was at an Opera! Randy thought it was amazing while Paula thought it was fantastic. Simon Cowell however didn’t like this side him – he preferred the “rock” side of him. Okay – I am seriously freaked out that David Cook has the chance of winning over David Archuleta♥ :( This is seriously pissing me off…
My Top 3 for tonight: David Archuleta♥, David Cook and… well to be perfectly honest – I only have a Top 2 tonight.
And to be perfectly honest again, it’s going to be hard for me to pick exactly a bottom 3 tonight, but my pick at elimination for tomorrow night will be Brooke White.
