The American Idol addict is back once again with her reviews on the Top 8 finalists
This week is INSPIRATIONAL SONGS week
First up we have Michael Johns singing “Dream On” by Aerosmith – Wow, I actually thought it was quite good, until he got to the screechy part. “You sound as good as you look…” – Haha Paula. Simon was being too harsh? I didn’t think it was wannabee-ish but I thought it wasn’t his best nor was it his worst. At the moment I really can’t tell if he’d shock the world by being in the bottom 3 Friday night – but I’ll just have to wait until everyone has gone up on stage and performed. Let’s keep our fingers crossed that someone would do as worse as Michael Johns.

Second up we have Syesha Mercado singing “I Believe” by Fantasia Barrino – Okay just by knowing what she was going to sing I just know Syesha won’t be able to pull it off because no body could sing that song better than Fantasia… Oh well, let’s just wait and see how Syesha goes. Okay, well to me she did a pretty good job actually. Randy didn’t feel the connection from her and was compared to Fantasia. Paula – well… The judges just didn’t get it and feel they don’t know Syesha that well. Could this be it for Syesha Mercado?
After Syesha Mercado we have Jason Castro singing “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” by Israel Kamakawiwo’ole – Simon didn’t get it the first time heard it done by Isarel. Simon then said that when he heard it the second time he loved it – and after hearing it for the third time – by Jason Castro – he thought it was ‘fantastic.’ OH MY GOD IT WAS SO EFFIN’ AWESOME!!! The little guitar looked so cute – and it had this cute Hawaiian tune to it in the beginning. My gosh – during the song I was on the verge of crying!!! GO JASON CASTRO! He’s definitely in my Top 3 for tonight unless someone does awesomely better than him.

After Jason Castro’s awesome performance – Kristy Lee Cook is up next singing Martina McBride’s “Anyway.” I can’t believe I’m actually saying this – but hell she’s good this week! Maybe it’s because it was a song by Martina McBride – country singer! Before I continue further about her singing – I LOVE HER TOP. Okay, back on topic, the judges loved her although Randy thought that she had pitch problems. Wow – after that performance I don’t think she’s even going to get into bottom 3 on Friday night. I won’t consider her in my Top 3 though. Just while I’m still on KLC, Rickey believes that the pimping of KLC has begun! LOL.
After KLC we have David… COOK – no not David Archuleta yet. David Cook performed a song by Our Lady Peace, “Innocent” – I thought the beginning was weird, but I thought the message conveyed in the song was inspirational and I liked how he wrote “give back” on the palm on his hand in conjunction to Idol Gives Back tomorrow night. Anyway – Simon didn’t like his performance and I thought it was mediocre but I doubt he’d be in the bottom 3 Friday night.
After David Cook we have Carly Smithson performing “The Show Must Go On” by Queen – I didn’t like it at all, it was just like wtf to me. No offense to any Carly Smithson fans out there, and the judges were right – there wasn’t any connection. I found it quite funny how the audiences weren’t boo-ing when Simon was giving his devastatingly constructive criticism. I reckon Carly would wind up in the bottom 3 Friday night and might even face elimination. FINALLY – no offense, like I said before I don’t really like Carl Smithson, and I don’t want her to win American Idol. I also agree with Simon on how the song turned out to be an angry song the way she sang it which kind off contradicted with the theme of “Inspirational” songs.
Next… DAVID ARCHULETA♥ performing “Angels” by Robbie Williams. Oh my goshhhh~ That was so AWESOME! “CRAZY, CRAZY HOT!” – Randy Jackson. Simon got boo-ed but he thought that David Archuleta would sail through to the next round – HELL YEAH HE WOULD! I can’t believe he got my crying tonight! And there was one point where I started singing along with him. I love it! I LOVE YOU DAVID ARCHULETA♥ MY NUMBER ONE ALL THE WAY. 1866-IDOLS-07.

Last but not least Brooke White performs “You’ve Got A Friend” by James Taylor. It’s nothing personal, but I thought her dress was… yeah… weird? I thought it was quite boring and rather copycat-ish in a sense that I believe she didn’t do anything different with the song. Awwwww~ She was very emotional. Simon is so funny! “Was it original? No. Was it pleasant? Yes.”
Let’s see what Rickey thought about tonight’s performance:
Performances of the night:
Jason Castro — Somewhere Over The Rainbow
David Archuleta — Angels
Inspiring:
David Cook — Innocent
Bombed:
Carly Smithson — The Show Must Go On
Syesha Mercado — I Believe
It was OK:
Michael Johns — Dream On
Brooke White — You’ve Got A Friend
Pimped:
Kristy Lee Cook — Anyway
My bottom 3 based on tonight’s performance would be Syesha, Carly and I’m still struggling between Michael Johns and Brooke White – however, I thought Michael did better than Brooke so I reckon Brooke will be in the bottom 3 again tomorrow night. From this point on it’s kind off hard to say who’s going home, but I think it’s Carly. Sorry!
