Ah – I finished my 2nd and 3rd paper for the week and still have four more to go until I hit Friday. Lesson learned – READ ALL PARTS OF THE QUESTION CAREFULLY! I so freaked out when a couple of my classmates started talking about stuff I didn’t do in my Design & Communication paper. I’m just glad to say that I was able to finish the second paper – I never got to finish the paper during Mock Exams in January. Anyway, let’s put exams to the side for a while and let’s talk about AMERICAN IDOL! I can’t believe that next week is the finale – I’m so going to miss sitting in front of the TV every Wednesday and Thursday at 6pm. I feel like my blog is going to be pretty empty with all the American Idol stuff to talk about – oh well, I should probably find something else to write about yeah? Like David Archuleta’s success after he WINS American Idol next week Thursday.
To be honest – I did some speculating on rickey.org to find out the song choices. I won’t spoil it now for you guys but I must say the song choices are totally rad and interesting this week! Oh yes, before I forget; there is this American Idol Marathon this Friday if any of you want to catch up on episodes you’ve missed. I know I won’t be watching the Marathon; I’ve never missed an episode this season! Heck I’ve never missed an episode for the entire American Idol except of course Season’s 1-3 because it was never aired in Brunei! Well Season 3 was – but a month late? LOL, I was only able to watch Top 6 in Season 3.
Ryan: A highschool-er; A performer; And a bartender...
So here she goes – the American Idol addict is back with her reviews on tonight’s American Idol Top 3 performances. As you all know – this week the Top 3 finalists head home to their roots and each have three songs to sing tonight. As usual, American Idol is to show a short clip of the highlights of their homecoming – David Archuleta♥ is up first...
David Archuleta♥ performs "And So it Goes" by Billy Joel; picked by Paula Abdul – OH MY GOSH! The acapella in the beginning already had me in tears! Touchdown David Archuleta♥! It was indeed a beautiful song for you to sing! I applaud you Paula Abdul for picking such a beautiful song for him! Randy is really happy that Paula chose a dope song for him and that he’s in it to win it! Simon thought it was good – but no surprises, predictable and not outstanding.
1866-IDOLS 01, 04 or 07
Randy Jackson picked Syesha Mercado’s first song "If I Ain't Got You" by Alicia Keys – WHOO! A favourite song of mine – let’s see how Syesha does with the song... I love the dress man but the singing was okay-ish. Her beginning was a bit weird for me, but when she hit the chorus she did better. I didn’t get any goosebumps like I did when I first heard Alicia Keys sing this so I guess it’s not a good sign for Syesha – from me. Simon thought she sang it well but wished that Randy didn’t choose a song that would make her sound like the original artist.
1866-IDOLS 02, 05 or 08
David Cook is up next performing "First Time I Ever Saw Your Face" by Roberta Flack; picked by Simon Cowell – very, very tough song according to Simon but he thinks that David Cook can pull it off. To be honest, I’ve never heard of this song before but WOW he did a good job for sure! It was AWESOME – but David Archuleta♥ is even awesome-er if there is ever such a word. Randy loved him since day one but he wished that Simon didn’t pick such a predictable ‘old’ song because he wanted David Cook to keep the rocking! Simon – as biased as he can get (well he mentioned it himself) – and thought it was one of his best performances of the day. Round 1 he says goes to Cook & Cowell. David’s Dad & Mom in the audience – are they divorced? They weren’t sitting in the same place... Oh well... idk! I’d care if it’s about my lovely David Archuleta♥
1866-IDOLS 03, 06 or 09
David Archuleta♥ is back performing a song that he picked "With You" by Chris Brown – OH MY GOSH! I HOPE HE DOES WELL WITH THE SONG! I totally love this song! He chose it because he wanted to do something he’s never done before. Well what can I say – of course he did well! He had me smiling throughout his performance – such a great rendition of the song! And he’s wearing a shirt again for the third time on the show! I was also bobbing up and down as he’s doing too – and the crowd kept on screaming! Randy applauded the fact that he did something new – but didn’t like the song choice. Paula thought it was just RIGHT and that he should be singing songs like this! Touchdown Paula! Simon... Well, he applauds him that he didn’t do a ballad but thought that it was like a chiwawa wanting to be a tiger. He thought it wasn’t him with all the weird dancing – WHAT THE HECK! Who care’s what the judges say right? He did a well-known song loved by many teenagers and they will surely VOTE for him!
Syesha Mercado is next with “Fever” and decides to work with the chair tonight! Desperate much? LOL – whatever. I think her performance with Fever turned out more or like a very bad pornography show rather than on the vocals – but then again maybe this performance will capture some of her ‘guy’ fans out there. I just didn’t like the whole performance – LIKE HELLO! This is a family show! Randy thought she sang it well though. Paula was surprised though she picked a weird song and doesn’t show her Syesha’s game. Simon thinks that Syesha would regret performing like that as it turned out to be lame – finally someone on the same grounds as me!
David Cook next with "Dare You to Move" by Switchfoot – yet another one of my favourite songs and well known by the world! The contestants are on tonight with popular songs! David Cook: An appropriate song for the appropriate moment. I thought the beginning sounded like the original song but when he hit the chorus he turned it into his own jam! Oooo~ I like the red flower on his guitar. Randy thought that performance wise it wasn’t his best performance and a bit pitchy. Simon thought it was pretty much something he’d expect and thought that everyone did an okay performance for second round.
David Archuleta♥ is back with "Longer" by Dan Fogelberg; picked by the producers – this is definitely David Archuleta’s jam – ballads, but he definitely does well with certain fast songs as well. DAVID ARCHULETA♥ FOR THE WIN! It was an awesome song choice for him! Randy thought it was intresting song choice but thought he was totally in his game tonight! Simon however thought the song and the lyrics were horrible to chose for a 90-year-old BUT has done enough to get him into the finals next week – GO DAVID ARCHULETA♥!
SUMMER TOUR TICKETS ON SALE SATURDAY 10AM! NOOOOO!~ I WANT TO BUY THEM! I WANT TO GO! I WANT TO SEE MY BOO DAVID ARCHULETA!
Syesha is on for the last time tonight with "Hit Me Up" by Gia Farrell; picked by the producers. I got to say that I love this song – but Syesha killed it for me – SORRY Syesha fans! She just doesn’t turn me on for a vocalist – she should definitely stick to performing, like seriously. Randy thought it was just okay for him. Simon is telling Paula that it’s a song about penguins seeing as it’s a soundtrack from “Happy Feet.” Paula thought she hadn’t done enough to get through tomorrow. Simon thought she had her shining moment last week but not this week and was expecting more from her last performance. Could this be it for Syesha Mercado? I think so – she could NEVER beat David Archuleta♥ and David Cook.
And last but not least – David Cook performs "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing" by Aerosmith; picked by the producers – yet another favourite of mine. SHIT – David Cook is definitely in to win it! I feel so insecure now about David Archuleta♥ winning American Idol – he’s definitely got some competition! David Cook was amazing with this song! My only criticism would be that he kind of shouted a bit in the middle of the song. Randy thought it was an okay performance and VERY predictable. Paula: David, see you in the finals! That is my prediction! And Simon: David Cook wins the night!
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!~
Here are the numbers again: 1866-IDOLS 01, 04 and 07
Those are the only numbers you will be dialling tonight!
If you want the other numbers then don’t ever talk to me again or bother coming to my blog! I’m kidding! Thanks for tuning into my blog and come back tomorrow for elimination reviews!
My pick at elimination – Syesha Mercado, and David Archuleta♥ for the WIN!
*Note: This blog entry was pre-typed on Microsoft Word and took up three pages!
I’m seriously pissed off at people who DARE bomb and criticise David Archuleta’s singing – he’s F*CKING AWESOME OKAY?!
- I ♥ David Archuleta -
