CNN Larry King LIVE
American Idol Special
LOL – I never actually thought I’d be saying this again until next year January but...
The American Idol addict is back with her reviews on this morning’s CNN with Larry King American Idol Special.
To be honest, I didn’t know about this until suddenly Larry King appeared on the TV saying stuff about his meeting with David Cook and Runner-up David Archuleta♥ - and of course I couldn’t say to Archie!
David Cook was first interviewed by Larry King and I might add that his story on Idol was pretty interesting and stuff were let out that we’ve probably never know when watching Idol. David Cook thought that when he had hit the Top 24 spot he was going to stay for a week and then get eliminated. He told us that he came into the show with very little to almost no expectation of winning the show. His little brother Andrew Cook for so long wanted to audition on the show and this year he finally came up with the courage to do so and asked his big brother David Cook to come along as moral support. The twist that happened here was that the producers were first interviewing Andrew when they suddenly turned the camera to David Cook. He told them that he wasn’t there to audition and the producers said: well now you are!
I think what the public didn’t know was that Andrew and David auditioned together – David passed auditions but Andrew didn’t. David – who felt like he took his brother’s dreams away from him, asked Andrew first if he wanted him to push forward with Idol. Andrew replied: I’d kick your ass if you didn’t!
So David entered the competition with no expectations of even winning the show – he really thought that Archie was going to win. Larry King then brought p the subject about his little brother Andrew being ill. He has had a brain tumour for about a decade and is now fighting it. David Cook said that he didn’t want to bring it up on the show for Andrew didn’t want the people of America to not vote for him because of the issues behind the scene but based on David Cook himself.
---
Next, David Archuleta♥ was interviewed by Larry King who asked him if on Wednesday night he thought that Seacrest was going to call his name. Humbly, David Archuleta♥ said that he wasn’t expecting to win because even though the judges, especially Simon Cowell gave him tonnes of exclamation marks,
it really comes down to how you’ve expressed yourself from week 1 otherwise if it was just based on that one night – the other weeks would’ve been just a total waste.
To be honest – David Cook has actually done better than David Archuleta♥ throughout the past weeks but had let it go during the finale.
David Archuleta♥ wishes to continue with the music industry but stated that if it doesn’t go well with the music, he’ll be open to other opportunities that he’s interested in – he’s still very young! But I do hope he goes off to college and get an education. I CAN’T WAIT FOR HIS ALBUM! Archie also said that after the finale he had a talk with Simon Cowell about possibly teaming up with Jive Records and producing that album that millions are waiting for...
During the interview, David Archuleta♥ was really cute with his continuous smiling and nervous laughs: “You know like, I thought I was going home and you know like, they called me back, and I was like – we’re they talking to me? So I like kept on walking and they’re like – no come here – and I was like – uhhhh, okay – and they were like – you made it through...”
Yeap – he’s so totally high school material with his like you know... :D.
Larry King then brought up the subject of his Dad whether he was affecting any of his performances. David Archuleta♥ said that on some points he didn’t agree with his Dad’s advices but really appreciates how his Dad has been supporting him all the way. Archie also revealed that his Dad was practically his roommate during Idol – but he did have Chikezie as his roommate until he left.
---
Next, Cook and Archie sat down together in front of Larry King to be interviewed together. Each said that they thought the other was going to win – so really in the end it proves that both are winners and that David Archuleta♥ Is definitely a winner without even having the title. Larry King then showed the two what they’ve never seen before – the judges with Larry King talking about the two David’s somewhere about mid-April. Simon said that he would actually listen to someone like David Cook and clearly said that David Archuleta♥ is the one to beat.
He’s young, he’s got a good voice and he’s good looking you know – he’s got the teen and what I call nanny votes
.
---
Cook and Archie were then joined by Syesha Mercado who placed 3rd and Jason Castro who placed 4th on American Idol 2008. Jason was being he’s weird self as usual with the weird looks on his face whenever he’s sitting down in an interview – it was hilarious.
Larry King says to Syesha: What do you think about the two David’s?
Syesha: He’s always smiling and so humble – and David Cook you know, he’s always cracking joke... jokes and he’s really nice.
Larry King: I meant talent...
Syesha: Oh talent - *awkward pause* well we’ll let it speak for itself.
The hotspot was then turned to Jason Castro where the subject about Simon Cowell feeling frustrated thinking that Jason at one point had given up on the competition. Jason replied that he never gave up but was feeling pressured by having to do something new for the first time and that from week to week it just got too much for him to handle.
Larry King: Remember when Simon told you to pack your bags?
Jason Castro: Yeah...?
Larry King: Well did you pack your bags that night?
Jason: *quite voice* Yeah I kinda did...
LOL – that was funny.
Larry King also brought up the subject about Paula commenting on his second song when he had only sung his first song. David Cook said that he and Jason looked at each other for a second thinking whether the comment was actually meant for him seeing as they were standing next to each other that night. Jason said that he didn’t even look at Paula when she made that comment but was rather staring into the blue. Paula’s seeing stars Jason – she’s been doing crack, LOL.
---
The four were then joined by Brooke White who was eliminated before Jason Castro and Carly Smithson right before Brooke White. Larry started talking about Carly’s tattoos and why she has so many – well, Carly loves tattoos. Carly was also exposed about her album before she even joined Idol. David Cook took the liberty of replying to Larry King about the matter. David Cook believes that even if you’ve already had an album it shouldn’t give the producers a reason to disqualify the contestant.
To be honest – I seriously think that they should be disqualified because then it doesn’t give the other people out there who are just as good a chance of even getting onto American Idol because they are just too focused on those who are clearly better. But then I do agree with David Cook to a point that if you’ve got the voice and the talent then you should be on it. Maybe they allowed Carly to be on American Idol as he first debut album when she was known as Carly Hennessey wasn’t that great of a hit – washed up star on Idol doesn’t look that good.
Brooke was asked about her mishaps of forgetting lyrics on a reality show that is watched by millions of people. She said that when she sang ‘Every Breath I Take’ she didn’t actually forget the lyrics but didn’t start on her cue. But during Andrew Lloyd Webber week when she sang ‘You Must Love Me’ she really did forget her lyrics and just had to start over again.
Larry King: Jason, what do you think of Brooke?
Jason: *puts on weird face* What do I think of Brooke?
Larry King: Yeah as in talent...
Jason: Oh right... Talent *LOL* Well she was one of my favourite vocals from American Idol.
Larry King: Archie – what do you think of Carly?
Archie: She is amazing – she was like my Mama...
Carly: Yeah – I looked after him...
---
Ramiele Malubay, Kristy Lee Cook and Chikezie Eze was invited next and sadly Michael Johns couldn’t be with them for he was back in Las Vegas – who knows what he was doing there! But they did interview him separately in Las Vegas and aired him on Larry King. Michael thought it was a real shocker for him seeing as he was never in the bottom 3 and that night he got cut that night. He wasn’t necessarily upset because following his departure on Idol that week was 15 hours of press. The media kept telling him that he was ‘robbed’ and that made him feel good about himself. Larry King asked him if American Idol was aired back in Australia and he said that it was in fact aired on Fox in Australia. Johns also told us that he went back to Australia to surprise his parents – he was more surprised to know that everyone in Australia knew him.
After the nine Idols bid adieu to Michael Johns, Ramiele, Kristy Lee and Chikezie talked about their ride on Idol - Kristy Lee was friends with everyone but sometimes thought that if they were getting on her nerves she’d not be friends with them but then the next day they’d make up.
Ramiele thought that at some points she didn’t feel like it was her time to leave but then again some people liked this song or that song but not this song and she just happy to be touring with the Top 10.
Chikezie said that it was his fourth time trying out on Idol – and says that this season may have a knock on effect on his future career and just to make it to Top 12 was something.
David Hernandez and Amanda Overmeyer unfortunately weren’t invited to the show and won’t be touring with the Top 10 this Summer.
Larry King: Who do you think here has the most talent?
Archie♥: Well everyone, you know... *awkward silence as Archie♥ sits there so innocently smiling*
[Everyone laughs]
Larry King: Well thanks for leaving us hanging here!
LOL – it was really cute, if you actually watch it, you’d be like, awwwwwwwwwww~
Well the hour of Larry King is almost up and Larry King said that this year’s Top 10 will also be known as the American Idol Class of 2008 with a Year Book:
Biggest goof-ball – Michael Johns (it was a unanimous vote)
Most flirtiest – Michael Johns (a unanimous vote)
Most laid back – Jason Castro (a unanimous vote)
Best couple – Brooke & Dave (husband)
Syesha Mercado at this point was like – Best Couple? And started looking around the room when David Cook said: Brooke and Dave... Not us David’s but her husband Dave.
Biggest Brain – David Cook aka. Word Nerd (obviously a unanimous vote)
Most likely to get into trouble – Michael Johns (again a unanimous vote)
To be honest – I couldn’t agree more with the superlatives!
Larry King then wrapped up the show by asking the Idols what they’re going to sing during the Summer Tour...
David Cook: I’ll be singing the winning song ‘Time of My life’
Archie♥: Angels
Syesha: If I Ain’t Got You
Jason: I’m busting the ukulele
Larry King: Going to Hawaii I see?
[Everyone laughs]
Brooke: I’m going on the piano with ‘Let It Be’
Carly: Bring Me to Life by Evanesence
Kristy Lee: God Bless the USA
---
Ramiele & Chikezie I forgot :S I’m really sorry!
The show ended with a song from the nine Idols singing ‘Freedom.’ At one point they showed Archie♥ not singing but smiling and laughing his cute face off...
Larry King: Join them Archie!
Such a big happy family I tell you – sadly they won’t be televising the Summer Tour here in Brunei, but I wish them the best in the Tour!
THE BEST AMERICAN IDOL SEASON EVER!
- I ♥ DAVID ARCHULETA FOREVER! -
Tour starts July 1st! Damn, I wish I could go and see my Boo Archie♥!
♪Song of the Day♫
Crazy – Gnarls Barkley
I remember when, I remember, I remember when I lost my mind
There was something so pleasant about that phase.
Even your emotions had an echo
In so much space
And when you're out there
Without care,
Yeah, I was out of touch
But it wasn't because I didn't know enough
I just knew too much
Does that make me crazy
Does that make me crazy
Does that make me crazy
Probably
And I hope that you are having the time of your life
But think twice, that's my only advice
Come on now, who do you, who do you, who do you, who do you think you are,
Ha ha ha bless your soul
You really think you're in control
Well, I think you're crazy
I think you're crazy
I think you're crazy
Just like me
My heroes had the heart to lose their lives out on a limb
And all I remember is thinking, I want to be like them
Ever since I was little, ever since I was little it looked like fun
And it's no coincidence I've come
And I can die when I'm done
Maybe I'm crazy
Maybe you're crazy
Maybe we're crazy
Probably
