This is definitely worth something to post about.
Where shall I start? Over the past few days (weeks?) bah, days - Its been down pouring all day and all night until results finally showed today.
Last night - whoa, ubber rainfall (Brittany didn't know 'cos she was in a terrible, deep sleep). I mean, you know, I thought the rain was like all other rains we've had in Brunei - but this one really showed its colours.
Apparently, the rain last night resulted in:
- Flooded roads/houses/landslides - and when i say flooded, as in knee height flood for houses; roads - like how to say this... DROWNING already (5 metres-ish?) However tall the tunnel was at the big roundabout in Gadong.
- Closed school - no complaints here but the Geography, History, DT and Art Rooms were all flooded and no electricity throughout campus, so we were dismissed from school early.
- Flooded drainages & worse - Flooded powerstations! - Result? No electricity for 3 days! I am freakishly one of the lucky people that actually do have electricity in my home!
- People died - or well, that's what I heard. I'm serious.
- Houses collapsed - no kidding here too.
- People seeking shelter in other people's houses that do have electricity - my uncle, auntie and niece are coming over soon...
Brunei is getting scary! And to think that I live in a low-land area ~ ah blessed oversized drains. Though this rain seems to have caused a lot of damage - I seriously wish that school will be closed tomorrow. I am in no mood to go out!
Oh well - seems pretty dismal huh? Well - Siti, Val and I made use of the blackout day we've had today. Since we were dismissed early, we all went to Siti's house to discuss our self-initiated CAS activity and like just hang around and about. Later, Jeff text messaged and told us that the people from the boarding house were all going over to the RBA Club, and he invited us to come with. So yeah, we came but didn't swim. After that, I came home to blessed airconditioning. Ah yes - and a TV. LOL. That was pretty much our blackout day out ;).
I shall post pictures on facebook... SOON.
