Hello people! Yes, I’ve decided to blog for once since I haven’t been in a LONG time (excluding the idea that I’ve been posting Songs of the Month by David Archuleta).
Speaking of David Archuleta, it’s whack really – or could it be faith? I remember when Brittany and I were over at Ms. Hancox’s place, we were watching hitz while waiting for the videos to download into the Mac book. And I said “I hope they play David Archuleta’s song now...” Then when the current song that was on ended, David Archuleta’s Crush popped out! Nakakakilig talaga! Haha. And then, the same thing happened again yesterday while watching hitz too – but this time with my sister. I was like, “I want David Archuleta...” Then POP! There he was again – my sister called me a witch though thinking that I had some magic power or something.
And Speaking of David Archuleta again, American Idol Season 8 just announced their Top 12! Well, 13 and I will tell you how it got there – unless you’re an AI fanatic like me, then you’d know what happened, so for the sake of time, I just won’t explain it. (When you’re in IB – the whole world stop revolving around you – and instead revolves ‘round pens, papers & books)
You can head on over to http://www.rickey.org to get the latest hots and goss on American Idol and other reality shows. My picks on this year’s Season 8:
Danny Gokey
Adam Lambert
I think that Danny has a really good voice and that Adam’s HOT! Okay, I didn’t just pick Adam because he’s hot – but because he’s AWESOME too! His rendition of “Superstition” really made me feel that I was watching an Adam Lambert concert rather than American Idol – yes Paula I was thinking the same as you too on that night! I’m so glad that Tatiana del Toro is out – she’s so OA man. And! I think I’m starting to grow on Jorge Nuñez too!
Alright, enough American Idol for now – I will definitely be watching EVERY week but depends if I can write up about it like how I did for last season. I’ll try :) Maybe short summaries than long paragraphs like last year; anyway... IB Life? Well, I’ve had 3 consecutive long weekends, this weekend to be the last of the 3rd – last week’s weekend, even though long, was really tiring. And this is how the story goes:
BGIC VII
Day 1: Lobbying Day
Day 1 commenced at around 2:30PM where delegates; both local and overseas gathered at the ISB Hall for a welcoming speech from Ms. Wong and fellow Secretary Generals and Parliamentarians. This year for BGIC, I wanted to know what it would be like to be behind the scenes and so I opted as a videographer for the ISB reporting team along with my colleague, Brittany. After filming the opening remarks at the hall, the delegates went into their committee rooms and started their action plans. Brittany and I spent half of the day going from committee room to committee room capturing a glimpse of the whole day. When we had captured enough footage to create the first day, we asked Ms. Hancox – head of technology team to assist us in using the Mac book to edit and create movies. It wasn’t hard to learn, and in 10 minutes, we were able to get the hang of it and do things ourselves. We had fun, watching what we had captured and not to mention, point out some very good looking males (which did not distract us from our work by the way). By 6:00PM we were done with editing and all that was left to do was the dinner and then home!
Day 2: Opening Ceremony
Delegates started arriving by 7:00AM awaiting the arrivals of our Guest Speakers Nathan Chasing Horse and Adrian Lasimbang as well as our Royal Patron, Princess Sarah. We had seats reserved for us on the left hand side of the stage, but then, reporters from the government rudely placed their video camera in front of ours that had been set up already. With no other choice but to move because they were ‘more important’ than the host school – we had to move to the other side of the stage where there were no seats for us. What a day to wear heels – I stood for the whole hour and a half and I could feel my toes pinching. What agony! The Opening Ceremony commenced as soon as Princess Sarah arrived, kicking off with a speech from Mr. David G. Taylor, the Executive Principal of ISB. Following Mr. Taylor’s speech was the Choir and the Orchestra with a performance. After a splendid presentation by the music team, Nathan Chasing Horse approached the stage and enthralled us by his speech as well as his beautiful singing which had me speechless and in tears. Adrian Lasimbang then took the stage with his speech followed on by the colourful Haka Dance by students, parents and teachers. It was a beautiful performance that will remain hard to forget as the highlight of the Opening Ceremony along with Nathan Chasing Horse’s singing. Princess Sarah then took the stage and declared open for the seventh time running, Borneo Global Issues Conference. Speeches from the Secretary Generals were made next as Princess Sarah left the ICC. Refreshments were then served followed by opening speeches in committee rooms.
Brittany and I went from room to room, filming a few opening speeches and even started filming some debates. Lunch was then served after which Ms. Hancox brought us over to her house to edit the videos so that we could actually hear what was being edited. By 4:00PM, she sent us back to the ICC where we were then picked up by our parents. That same day, my friends and I went out to have a night out – dinner and arcade where we saw the Mall swamped with BGIC Delegates like insects.
Day 3: Panelling
Today was panelling session with the guest speakers where questions we posed towards them. As usual, Brittany and I did our thing – we pretended to be invisible and just do our job. We couldn’t be shy whenever we were just to randomly go to the front of the stage, or even onstage just to get the best angle shots. It wasn’t a lot of work, but in the end it was tiring – the filming was fine; it was the editing that became too much of a pain. Since we weren’t able to complete the Opening Ceremony videos the day before, we spent at most 5 hours in front of the computer trying to edit and hour’s worth of videos. Getting up early on a Sunday morning too didn’t help at all. Day 3 was tiring in a sense that we spent the whole day in front of the computer.
Day 4: General Assembly
Day 4 commenced with the General Assembly where Committees were now split up by Forums. The usual routine went about as Brittany and I went around into both Forums taking shots of the event from different angles – 10 minutes of each Forum was enough after which we headed back to the banquet hall to do more editing. It was safe to say that Brittany and I were able to finish editing the all the videos and hour early before BGIC was to end. We spent that hour just watching the rest of the debates. However, it isn’t safe to say that our job was done – there was still the after party to film. It was that bad, we worked for 10 minutes when Ms. Hancox decided to take the video camera off us and let us have the fun we were meant to have.
Though BGIC was over in a flash – our job wasn’t. We had to report back to school the next day (when everyone else got the day off) and finish editing the last part of the video which was to include the after party shots. We only spent about 45 minutes so it wasn’t too bad.
Yesterday has swimming lessons as usual with my sister and Nisa. Also today was quite nice since we had Nur (3rd person from the right from the picture above) join the team! Coach said he’ll train her so that she could beat Nisa. And I was like “What about me?” Then coach said, “No one can beat you.” LOL – for our swimming group that is – I bet there are loads more (especially from the competitive group that can beat me :S)
Let’s travel back to the present shall we? Today – I woke up late for once in my life! As in, woke up late for something I had to go too. Let’s see... Supposed to be at the Studio for Pilates at 8:30AM; I woke up at 8:15AM – oh gosh I said to myself. I ran around the house like a mad woman and still managed to get ready in 2 minutes (brushing teeth, getting changed plus a drink of water) and ZOOM off we were to Kiarong. Surprisingly, we made it to the studio 3 minutes before lesson time. It was so tiring seriously. And so, after a LOT of bone cracking, I here at home blogging while a batch of cookies is sitting in the oven while I also gobble down on the first batch – délicieux! C’est très magnifique!
Speaking of French – I have a piece of assignment in which I have to choose a really bizarre job (I think Mdm. Barrett meant in terms of jobs that we would never imagine doing) and prepare a presentation to convince her, and the rest of the class as to why they should take up the job. I chose to do MASCOTS! Haha and I told my mom about this, and guess what she suggested? She suggested that I go to Jollibee and interview their Mascot so that I could get primary information. I think her idea is great to be honest – shows that I can go further beyond the Internet and stop relying on technology.
Now – I am totally blank. I don’t think I’m going to attend tennis lessons today. Too much work to do. School + house work – yes, I am one of those lucky people that don’t actually have a maid to do the work for me. And while I’m on the topic of tennis – I think I’ll be stopping soon because I think it’s taking up too much of my time which could be dedicated to my school work.
Year 12 Mocks in less than a month!
And Philippines in less than a month = SHEY♥
Hope I haven’t kept you reading my blog for too long – toodles!
I’m not really good in describing myself because I know they’ll probably turn out to be big fat LIES. But in any case I will describe myself and you decide whether or not what I say is true XD.
For starters, I am Allison Maria Carmen Barrientos Geronimo… Long name right? So that’s where I go by the name Allison or Ally – and the nickname list does not stop there. If you are my friend – you would know all the fun and silly names I have, for example, jOog~, azza and ahly.
I am pure and proud to be Filipino with a hint of Spanish heritage from my mom’s side…and when I say “hint” I mean like a few drops of Spanish blood. I am also and proud and confirmed Roman Catholic – I ♥ JESUS.
In school, I wouldn’t label myself as the invisible dork that hides behind the rest of the crowd nor would I consider myself the most popular person in school. I’m just a neutral highschool girl with my ideal choice of friends that I cherish oh so much. I’m not going to list my besties down to avoid public humiliation or jealousy amongst others – but you know who you guys are :).
You can say I’m a laughaholic for I laugh out loud even at the most randomest moments in my life. People would think I’m utterly weird when I belt out at stuff they don’t even know what I’m laughing at… And that is why I believe inside jokes between my friends and I are the funniest jokes in the world ;).
As much as people love to give me the weirdest nicknames – I too – well I don’t know if the word ‘love’ would correctly describe my passion for nicknaming people – but let’s just say I too give other people nicknames. And I’m sorry to say that most of the nicknaming is kept between my friends and I only to be used when we feel like talking about someone and don’t want others to know who we are talking about.
I am an American Idol addict and my current boyfriend is David Archuleta… ’So long Blake Lewis! I can’t believe you said that David Archuleta was boring! How can you say Chikezie is better than David? Break na tayo Blake!
On a last note, I would like to end my biography by saying that I one day hope to join the Amazing Race Asia in whatever season it is on when I’m 21 years old and hopefully meet Blake Lewis and DAVID ARCHULETA!!!
xxallyy.
